Title: U.S. Motorcycle dispatch riders pass road test
Voice over: Training motorcycle dispatch riders for the U.S. Army, one of the toughest, most grueling forces in the service. After six weeks of basic instruction they send them on cross-country trips like this. Now they’re REAL veterans of the saddle.
Marissa Miller, Supermodel: Hi I’m Marisa Miller. Harley-Davidson and I have teamed up to show the men and women of the military our appreciation.
Dino Bernacchi, Harley-Davidson Director of Advertising, Promotions and Entertainment: We came up with the promotion of military appreciation month really because of the rich heritage that Harley-Davidson has had with the military. 30% of our buyers are vets and 14% of our employees are veterans.
Marisa: I grew up in a countryside. We had ten acres, so we had a lot of dirt bikes. So I’m familiar with riding dirt bikes and things like that. My dad and uncle rode Harleys.
Dino: Why don’t we take an entire month and show our appreciation with a call of action and have people join in showing the appreciation.
Marisa: There’s a huge responsibility, I think, in representing a brand like Harley. The riders: this is a full lifestyle and a full movement and I really respect that.
Griffin Guess, Creative Director, Cartel Management: I have a picture of marissa from like way back, like a decade ago, that this guy shot…
Michael Elins, Photographer: I call it the Mount Rushmore of pinups.
Marisa: We’re doing kind of a pinup, throwback theme. We really wanted to show some love to our men and women that serve in the military. So it’s this very nostalgic, patriotic, pinup look. Harley has that all-American feel, I’m the all-American girl, so it was a great concept. I’m really excited about this campaign and I hope the women and the men in the military are as well.
Marisa: It means a great deal to me. My grandfather served in the Marine Corp. And it means a lot to see each and every service man and woman paying the ultimate price every day to have the freedom we do as Americans.
Marisa: So we have a upcoming USO tour. I’m really excited to come meet these service men and women in person, especially with the new Harley campaign and the entire concept with giving back to the military, so I’m excited to bring awaerness to the campaign and see them in person, sign some posters, calendars and things like that.
Marisa: We’re all in this together. We proudly salute the military and we want you to join in at h-d.com/thankyou.
